The Common Awards in Theology, Ministry and Mission provides a suite of higher education awards for Undergraduates and Postgraduates that have been developed jointly by the Anglican, Baptist, Methodist and United Reform churches in partnership with Durham University.

The Common Awards are aimed at those in ordained ministry or who are seeking preparation for forms of lay ministry who want to grow and reflect on their current practice.  The Preface to the Common Awards describes the pedagogical and theological themes that shape the teaching and learning embodied in the Common Awards.

Teaching for the Common Awards is through the Cambridge Theological Federation, giving students from all different traditions a truly ecumenical learning experience. Wesley House students can apply to be on any of the following programmes:

Postgraduate

  • Master of Arts in Theology, Mission and Ministry (MA)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Theology, Mission and Ministry (PG Dip)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Theology, Mission and Ministry (PG Cert)

The MA includes the same taught component as the Postgraduate Diploma but with the addition of a dissertation. If you are unable to make as much of a time commitment then you could consider taking the Postgraduate Certificate, which is made up of the first three modules of the Diploma.

The MA, PG Diploma and PG Certificate are also available to be taken by distance learning, with an option of enrolling on a week-long intensive residential module. Read more about the distance learning option.
