Depending upon your circumstances it may be possible to obtain a grant or scholarship which would contribute to all or part of the costs of your course at Wesley House. The main external sources of funding for study we can suggest are as follows:

Methodist Church
Methodists have contributed greatly to education in Britain, and throughout the world.  Schools, universities, theological and Bible Colleges have been established and individuals have become leading thinkers in a broad range of disciplines. Today the church still encourages the Methodist people to think through our faith, part of this being done through higher education.  There are a number of ways in which the church seeks to help this.

See the Methodist Church website for further details.

Scholarship and Leadership Training (SALT) Grants
This scheme is administered by the World Church Relationships Office of the British Methodist Church and is intended to assist overseas partner churches with strategic and cross cultural training needs. The grant is paid to the sponsoring church rather than the individual and will cover full training expenses, but not living or travel costs. Applicants for SALT funding must apply themselves but must be nominated by the partner church.

The Cambridge Trust
The aim of the Trust is to enable candidates of outstanding academic merit, who would not otherwise be able to take up places at the University of Cambridge, to pursue courses of study or research. The Trust manages a large number of scholarship programmes, including the prestigious Cambridge International Scholarships; these are awarded on the basis of academic merit alone, but most scholarship schemes also take account of financial need.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the University website, and particularly the information on how to apply for graduate study and the scholarship section of the Cambridge Trust website.

The Mylne Trust
This charity exists “for the benefit of persons of either sex who are, or have been, engaged in evangelistic work, including retired missionaries or missionaries still engaged as such or continuing Christian workers”. Under this description, grants are awarded to individuals towards their personal living expenses in undertaking Christian outreach projects, for periods of training for Christian ministry and outreach and to retired persons whose lives have included Christian evangelistic work. Under the terms of its original endowment, the trust is only permitted to support Christian workers from Protestant denominations.

For more information please visit the Mylne Trust website.
