Wesley House PhD Scholarship in Wesleyan Leadership, Ministry or Supervision

Wesley House is pleased to offer a PhD scholarship in Leadership, Ministry or Supervision to be hosted by its Centre for Leadership, Ministry and Supervision.

The aim of the centre is, in partnership where possible, to develop excellence in leadership, ministry and supervision practice through:
a) research, publication and consultancy for policy development and implementation;
b) academic teaching and professional standard training; and
c) the development and delivery of relevant patterns of initial and continuing ministerial
development and support for identified communities of practice.

About the scholarship
The scholarship is supported by the Wesley House Bursary Fund. The applicant should intend to pursue doctoral research in a topic within the field of leadership, ministry or supervision e.g. theology and practice of particular ministries (lay, ordained, pioneer, chaplaincy, oversight, spiritual direction, pastoral care); theological themes as they relate to leadership/ministry such as theodicy, ethics, ecclesiology; aspects of leadership theory and practice for particular contexts or amongst communities of practice (education, healthcare chaplaincy, denomination, mission engagement; cross cultural mission); themes in ministry e.g. wellbeing, development, formation for particular roles; impact of specific interventions, e.g. reflective/pastoral supervision, coaching programmes, ministry strategies.

Current Application Round
We are currently accepting applications for a scholarship for a three year residential student taking a PhD with ARU to begin in September 2021

The Scholarship application deadline is Wednesday 14 July 2021.

The scholarship is for £18,500 a year for three years, subject to satisfactory academic progress. This is sufficient to cover ARU fees, Wesley House fees, and accommodation costs at Wesley House. The scholarship amount includes up to £300 a year for research expenses to be paid on production of receipts for supervisor-approved research travel or conferences.
