Life-giving Practices for Today
Wesley House Spiritual Retreat

Saturday 1 July 2023 (10:00am-3:00pm)
Wesley Methodist Church. Cambridge

For the Wesleys, the Christian life was a way of devotion. Following this spiritual path entails engagement in life-giving practices that enable us to flourish in our lives today. The spirituality we have inherited as Methodists is holistic and helps shape us into a loving people. Love sets us off on our journey, sustains us along the way, and lies before us as our goal. In this day apart, intended for all who seek peace and joy, we will immerse ourselves in these means of grace, rest in God, and receive nourishment for our ongoing journey in Christ.

The retreat will be led by PAUL W. CHILCOTE, Research Fellow at Wesley House and previously Wesley House’s Interim Director of the Centre for Global Wesleyan Theology. An award-winning author and retired Methodist historian and theologian, he is the author or editor of nearly thirty books in the areas of Wesleyan theology, spirituality, and Christian discipleship and mission. His years of missionary service in Africa continue to shape his life and ministry. He has been a Benedictine oblate of Mt. Angel Abbey for nearly twenty-five years. He and his wife, Janet, a retired United Methodist pastor, have five daughters and seven grandchildren.
