Contributions wanted
The HOLINESS Editorial Board is seeking:
Peer reviewed articles
Substantial articles will be submitted for anonymous peer review, directed primarily to Methodist/Wesleyan audiences (normally 5000 words, or by agreement with the editor, up to a maximum of 8000 words exclusive of end notes and bibliography). Peer reviewed articles will offer a focused contribution to knowledge rather tha a preliminary or general introduction to a topic. Arguments will be placed in the context of current scholarly debate. Articles will be assessed by two academic reviewers and one practitioner in ministry who is reading for clarity and accessibility, before being accepted or declined for the journal.
Shorter articles
These will normally be up to 3,500 all told, and they may arise from professional or ministerial reflection on practice. These need not be so formally academic, but will display intelligent writing at a high level, providing a good lively read.
What have the sermons of John Wesley ever done for us?
HOLINESS will carry a regular column in which certain key sermons of John Wesley are re-assessed for their value as guidance to holy living in the contemporary world. We welcome proposals addressed to any of Wesley’s sermons, and where possible we will see to publish different reflections on the same sermon arising out of different social and political contexts.
Creative and devotional material
We welcome proposed contributions that offer poetry, prayers, liturgical designs within the traditions of the journal.
Reviews
Book and film reviews will be directly commissioned.
The Commissioning Editor (commissioningeditor@wesley.cam.ac.uk) will make editing suggestions and will make the final decision about accepting or declining proposed contributions for publication. He is happy to have informal correspondence at an early stage about the length or suitability of a proposed article.
Each edition will be themed – see Future Issues, but other contributions that address the purpose and ethos of the journal will be considered. For more information see Guidance to Contributors.
