Research interests
As a Church Historian in the area of mission history in Africa, I am particularly interested in the interface between 17th century-19thcentury-Western missionary Christianity and African cultures in Southern Africa. I have extensively published on Missionary Christianity’s interfaces with African cultures in Southern Africa. I have ongoing interests in the study of the impact of colonialism, history on Africans in the nineteenth century in Southern Africa with respect to memory and trauma. I am C-2 NRF-rated researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Theology, Stellenbosch University.

Supervisory experience
I have supervised students at the Faculty of Theology, Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch University.  I have 7 doctoral completions and have been an examiner in 10 doctoral vivas.
