Tim Woolley

The Revd Dr Tim Woolley is a Methodist Presbyter currently serving as Superintendent Minister of the Hinckley Circuit. After initial theological training at Wesley House he served in the Guildford Circuit before becoming Director of Mission for the Northampton Circuit. He has also served as Ministry Development officer for the East Central Region of the Methodist Discipleship and Ministries Learning Network. Tim has been a member of the course writing teams for Mission Shaped Intro (2nd ed.) for Fresh Expressions and for Talking of God and Worship: Leading and Preaching for The Methodist Church and is a member of the Methodist Heritage Committee.

Tim’s PhD thesis ‘A New Appearance on the Face of Things: Retelling the Primitive Methodist Creation Narrative’ was completed through Cliff College. He has presented papers at the Oxford Institute of Methodist Theological Studies, the Oxford-Manchester Studies Seminar, the Ecclesiastical History Society Postgraduate Colloquium, and conferences at Wesley House and Englesea Brook Primitive Methodist Chapel and Museum. His research interests lie in the field of nineteenth-century British Methodism, Evangelicalism, the Holiness Movement, Revivalism and Nonconformity. His articles and reviews have appeared in Wesley and Methodist Studies, The Wesleyan Theological Journal, Holiness, The Ranters’ Digest and H-Pietism.

Tim is an adjunct lecturer at Cliff College, a tutor for the Methodist E-Academy, and a part time tutor for Oxford University Department of Continuing Education, as well as being part of the editorial team for the journal The Independent Scholar.
