Methodist Church PhD scholarship for research in the area of ‘Methodism, worship and liturgy’
Award: £4000 pa for 3 years (or part-time equiv)
Research beginning: Sep 2016/Jan 2017/Sep 2017.
This initiative by the DMLN’s Director of Scholarship, Research and Innovation and the Faith and Order Committee is seeking to assist the Methodist Church in developing theological expertise in the area of ‘Methodism, worship and liturgy’.
Eligibility: This scholarship is open to presbyters, deacons and members of the British Methodist Church. Where there are two or more applications that are considered to be equal in merit, priority will be given to the applicant who is considered to best enhance ethnic diversity within British Methodist scholarship. If still undetermined, the award will be given the youngest appropriate applicant.
Location of Research: This scholarship is expected to be undertaken at a Methodist or Methodist related institution including The Queen’s Foundation, Cliff College, Wesley House Cambridge, Wesley Study Centre Durham, Urban Theology Unit, Oxford Brookes University and the University of Roehampton. In exceptional circumstances research may be possible elsewhere.
Award: the level of support for research beginning in 2016-17 will be up to £4000 pa for full time study or £2000 pa for part-time study. This support, with an annual increase related to RPI, is offered for 3 years FT or 6 years PT research and will be paid direct to the institution concerned.
Awarding Panel: Applications will be considered by a panel consisting of the Director of Scholarship, Research and Innovation, the Secretary of the Faith and Order Committee, and one appointee of the Liturgy subcommittee.
