John Wesley and the Church Fathers: Ancient Wisdom for Today’s Ministry
Download the course flyer (pdf) (pdf)
This online short course encourages a deeper understanding of the Wesleyan tradition’s rootedness in early Christianity. Participants will learn about how the Methodist movement, which Wesley founded as a prophetic revival within the “one, holy, catholic and apostolic church”, was shaped by these sources.
Through a close study of both Wesley and the Fathers, this course will help students to further understand the Methodist Church and Wesleyanism as rooted in the church fathers and, as such, will help students to read the Fathers and Wesley in this context.
It is ideal for laypeople, scholars, theologians, clergy, students and anyone passionate about exploring the sources of John Wesley’s theology and ministry.
The course is led by Rev Canon Dr Jason Radcliff who has published widely on the Church Fathers, Orthodoxy and the Oxford Movement.
